ITINERARY:
DAY 1 – ROME
Arrival in Rome. Transfer from the airport to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight.
DAY 2 – ROME
American buffet breakfast. In the morning enjoy a monolingual (English) 3 hour walking tour “discovering Riome”, from Largo Argentina, Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza Farnese, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. Tour starts at 9:00am from Corso Vittorio Emanuele 22 and will end in the very center of the city. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight.
DAY 3 – ROME/NAPLES/POMPEII/SORRENTO
7:00am departure to Naples by coach with multilingual tour escort. Upon arrival in Naples our local guide will take you for a walking tour of the historical center to admire Piazza Del Plebiscito, Royal Palace, Gallery of Umberto I and San Carlo Opera House. Then continue to Pompeii, after a short visit to a coral and cameo factory, lunch in a typical restaurant. After lunch visit the excavations of this ancient Roman city which was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvio in 79BC and buried under 4 to 6 mt. of ash and stones. Proceed to Sorrento, a jewel of the Sorrentine peninsula famous for the cultivation of orange, lemon and olive trees. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
DAY 4 – SORRENTO/CAPRI/SORRENTO
American Buffet Breakfast, leave by steamer to the island of Capri. Upon arrival at Marina Grande weather permitting. Optional visit of the blue grotto, visit of the Augustus Gardens and a stop at the famous Piazzetta. Minibuses will take you up to Anacapri. After lunch back to Marina Grande to board the return steamer back to your hotel in Sorrento. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 5 – SORRENTO/ROME
American Buffet Breakfast. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the popular and attractive town of Sorrento, or to visit one of the jewels of the peninsula as Positano, Ravello or Amalfi. Be back at the hotel at 3:30pm to meet our tour leader for the return trip to Rome where expected arrival is around 9:00pm. Overnight.
DAY 6 – ROME
American buffet breakfast, end of tour.
NOTE: 1) Participants must bring with them only 1 piece of luggage (which will be stowed in the bottom compartment of the coach bus, during check-in and check-out from accommodation) Only one carry-on or purse is permitted on board. 2) In Sorrento, when dinner included in the program, we highly recommend to wear long trousers, in order to be admitted to the restaurant hall.
