About the Villa

Situated amidst a huge orchard of kiwi fruit and apple trees within the Quinta do Ameal farm, Casa dos Esteios is a beautifully restored 19th century farmhouse, and is one of our splendid villas close to the Douro valley. The banks of this famous river are just 3 kms away and boat trips can be enjoyed on the Douro and the Tâmega River in Portugal’s world renowned wine region. In the nearby village of São Miguel de Paredes you’ll find a store and a couple of restaurants; the town of Penafiel is 14kms distant and the historic city of Porto a 40km journey.

Huge oak doors give a splendid first impression and open into the courtyard where the old stables have been converted into six simple but cosy bedrooms, a double and five twins, each with en suite facilities and TV. The seventh room, also an en suite twin, is located above the living room. All bedrooms are accessed from the courtyard, and this bedroom is reached up stone steps that are unprotected on one side, and is not suitable for children. Inside, an ample farmhouse kitchen includes a wood oven. There is an ageless charm in the delightfully rustic lounge and dining room, where granite walls, oak doors and a low wood-panelled ceiling combine to great effect with an imposing wood burning stove. Just outside, the patio is the ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely summertime breakfast in view of the swimming pool which is enclosed by a lawn dotted with palms and with views across the grounds to the tree clad hillside beyond the village

There are other services like home cooked meals by the caretakers.Daily breakfast can be provided by an extra cost of 7,5 EUR pp. Cooked home made traditional meals are avialble for 20 Euros per person per meal Beverages not included..
This is a restaured farm of the XIX century, with total privacy and with a wonderful view to the vilage. En-suite bedrooms all with TV. The furniture is very pretty, good quality and comfortable.
This is a highly recommend property , ideal for those who want to spend their holidays in a quiet place.Douro River is just 3 km far, where you can take beautifull boat trips along this river.
