Discover one of the most amazing and enchanting landscapes in the world. Five (Cinque) villages, hanging between sea and land, is listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. Our visit begins at daybreak, with the arrival at Riomaggiore: the village, dating back to the early thirteenth century, is famous for its historic character and local wine. We then reach Manarola by walking along the famous “Via dell’Amore” (The Path of Love) a romantic and evocative promenade hewn from the rocks falling sheer into the sea. Our journey continues to Monterosso, an ancient fishing village considered “The Pearl of the Cinque Terre”, where you will be awed by its enchanting beaches and the lush vegetation encircling the little town. Here you will have free time to plunge into the crystal sea, sunbathe, and/or lunch before taking the boat to Vernazza, a seaside town surrounding a small natural port. Return transportation to your Florence hotel or nearby, dinner on your own (not included), return at leisure, and overnight.
DAY 3 – FLORENCE
After breakfast enjoy the morning at leisure, then make your way to our downtown meeting point at 12:45 p.m. in order to enter the Accademia Gallery museum with a fast-track priority entrance ticket and discover the original Michelangelo’s masterpiece that has become the symbol of Renaissance splendor – “The David”. The David was sculpted by a very young Michelangelo entirely from a single block of local Carrara marble and it’s 5.17 metres tall (17 ft). Admire also Michelangelo’s famously unfinished sculptures – Prigioni and San Matteo. The Accademia Gallery houses also many other masterpieces, both paintings and sculptures by the greatest artists, like Botticelli. Later, visit Italy’s most important museum, the Uffizi Gallery, with the discovery of a Renaissance architectural wonder! See The Ponte Vecchio, the landmark of Florence, houses the best kept secret of Florence. It serves as a passageway dating back to 1564, when the Grand Duke of Florence, Cosimo I de’ Medici ordered his favorite architect, Giorgio Vasari, to built a path that would allow him and the Medici family to move freely from their residence (Palazzo Pitti) to the government palace (Palazzo della Signoria, other side of the river Arno). Hidden between city houses and even passing through a church, the Vasari Corridor has evolved as one of the most astounding architectural masterpieces of the Renaissance. You will also enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the main rooms of the Uffizi Gallery, skipping the usual long lines. You will thus be able to view the main masterpieces by artists like Giotto, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, etc., Following the evolution of Italian art through the centuries, from the Middle Ages to Renaissance. Meeting with our tour leader in the evening at the hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight.
