ITINERARY
Day 1 - Milan/Verona/Cortina D'ampezzo
At 8:30am, depart from Hotel Jolly Machiavelli in central Milan to Verona. While peering up at Juliet’s balcony, you will learn the history behind the story. Next, visit Piazza delle Erbe, the old square and market surrounded by the Torre Lamberti; city hall; the tribunal; and Arena, the coliseum. Depart for Cortina d’Ampezzo, traveling through Val di Fiemme, Val di Fassa, and Passo Pordoi, parts of the Dolomites mountain range. Though this region includes many small mountain villages, the most renowned is Cortina d’Ampezzo, a popular vacation spot during summer and winter holidays and the center of traditional works such as wood manufacturing. Overnight.
Day 2 - Cortina/Lago Di Misurina/Tre Cime Di Lavaredo/Lago Di Braies/Val Pusteria & Val Badia/Cortina
After breakfast, set off for Lake Misurina, situated perfectly between a forest and the Dolomites mountain tops, in particular the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, three distinct, neighboring peaks well-known among Alpine experts. Next, to Lake Braies, one of the deepest lakes in the region with waters so clear that its color is a unique shade of blue. Visit Val Pusteria and Val Badia, the most traditional valleys of the region, before returning to Cortina, spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in hotel.
Day 3 - Cortina/Passo Falzarego/Passo Gardena/Passo Sella/Canazei/Passo Costalunga/Carezza/Bolzano
Breakfast. Travel through several Dolomite passes, including Passo Falzarego, which is situated in the basin surrounding Cortina between Val di Fassa and Val Gardena. With its marvelous views you may choose to venture to Sassolungo, a nearby mountain. Next, on to Canazei, famous for its wonderful views of the Dolomites. Time to explore and eat lunch. The first part of afternoon dedicated to Passo Costalunga and Lake Carezza, known for its brilliant shades of greens and blues, which earned it the nickname “Rainbow Lake.” Finally, arrive in Bolzano. Visit the gothic Duomo, and the Dominican church, painted with frescos dating back to the 14th Century. After winding through Via dei Portici and other central streets of the medieval town, check in to hotel, overnight. Day
4 - Bolzano/Trento/Madonna Di Campiglio/Passo Del Tonale/Milano
Breakfast. Depart to Trento, capital of the region. The city is dominated by the castle del Buon Consiglio, symbol of the House of Habsburg which dominated for many centuries, Santa Maria Maggiore, built in the XVI century and one of the first works of Renaissance and Gothic age, Palace Geremia of the XVI century. Part of the day is dedicated to travel around the Trentino Dolomites, with Malè, Madonna di Campiglio. Visit. Free time for lunch. Departure to Ponte di Legno. Next, to Passo Tonale (1883 m). Finally, back to Milan, end of the tour. |
