ITINERARY
Day 1 - Montecatini Terme
Arrival at Montecatini (PT) and accommodation at Hotel Manzoni. Founded in 1913 by the Simoncini family, with high quality service. All the rooms are finely decorated and quiet, with private bath, color Sat. TV, phone, independent A/C and hair dryer. The restaurant offers typical dishes of Tuscany countryside tradition.
Day 2 - Pisa/Lucca 140km
Suggesting a morning departure for Pisa. Visit Piazza dei Miracoli with the Duomo, Baptistery and Leaning Tower. The structure started to lean before it was completed, and the architects attempted to compensate by making the remaining floors taller, only adding to the problem. Continue to Lucca, a wonderful Tuscan town. It was the first town in Tuscany to accept Christianity. Lucca is one of the most picturesque and elegant fortress towns in Tuscany.
Day 3 - Florence 80km
Travel to the city of Florence. Visit Duomo Square with the Cathedral, Brunelleschi Cupola, Giotto Bell Tower, Bronze Gates. Continue to the historic open-air art museum of Signoria Square, with its beautiful statues, Palazzo Vecchio, and Ponte Vecchio. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure in Florence with its treasures, artisans and handicraft shops.
Day 4 - San Gimignano/Siena 275km
After breakfast we advise a panoramic tour through the countryside of the Chianti area. See the delightful vineyards and olive trees. Stop for a visit to San Gimignano, a tiny city that has remained intact through the centuries, atop of a hill, famous for its well preserved Medieval towers. In the afternoon explore Siena with its Piazza del Campo, and the Duomo.
Day 5 - Ellera di Corciano Perugia 6km
Arrival and accommodation at Albergo Conca Del Sole. In a panoramic location, the hotel rises on the hills of Corciano, a medieval town just few kilometers from Perugia and Trasimeno Lake. It has tennis, beach volley, and swimming pool. There is a restaurant with a panoramic terrace and dancing hall. The rooms and the apartments are situated in cottages and have independent entrance. They have TV, direct phone, fridge and some have private balcony or terrace. The cooking expresses genuine Umbrian culture and tradition. Today we suggest a walk in nearby Perugia to see the center, represented by the Piazza IV Novembre. The square is surrounded by splendid buildings, and the Fontana Maggiore.
Day 6 - Assisi 50km
This day is dedicated to a visit of Assisi. In the morning you can see the magnificent Basilica of San Francis. Then continue to the city built of pink stone and prettily spread in a fan shape on the slopes of Monte Subasio. You will enjoy walking though the narrow mediaeval streets.
Day 7 - Spello 50km
This town preserves a great number of monuments testifying to the Roman era. Visit the Church of St. Mary Maggiore built between the 11th and 12th centuries, the church of St. Andrew which contains the painting of the “Madonna and the Saints”; the Town Hall in Piazza della Repubblica, and the church of St. Laurence with the remains of the older building of the 12th century.
Day 8 - Departure
