Itinerary
Day 1: Palermo
Arrival in Palermo. Transfer to the hotel on your own. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 2: Palermo/Monreale/Agrigento
Buffet breakfast at your hotel and, in the morning, visit Palermo. We will admire the Cathedral as well as the Palatine Chapel in the Royal Palace. Panoramic visit of Palermo and continue to Monreale to visit the Cathedral and the Cloister. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon depart to Agrigento. Visit the Valley of the Temples, known for its well preserved Greek Temples. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 3: Agrigento/Piazza Armerina/Siracusa
Buffet breakfast at your hotel and depart to Piazza Armerina to visit the Roman Villa del Casale, famous for its more than 3500 sq meters of mosaics (on winter departures Caltagirone will be visited instead of Piazza Armerina). Continue to Siracusa. Time at leisure for lunch. In the afternoon visit the archaeological area including the Greek theater as well as Ortigia, the historical baroque center of the city. Dinner, overnight at hotel.
Day 4: Siracusa/Etna/Taormina/Reggio Calabria
After breakfast, conditions permitting, excursion on Mount Etna the highest active volcano in Europe. We will reach 1800 meters to visit the Silvestri Craters. Continue to Taormina and visit on your own of the Greek Theater as well as enjoy some free time to shop or go around the elegant streets of the city. Depart to Reggio Calabria. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 5: Reggio Calabria/Paola/Paestum/Naples
After buffet breakfast we will enjoy a visit to the Archaeological Museum where we will admire in particular the famous Bronzi di Riace. Depart to Paola. Lunch on your own and time at leisure before leaving to Paestum. Visit on your own the archaeological area. Continue to Naples. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 6: Naples/Pompeii/Amalfi Coast/Naples
Breakfast at hotel and depart to Pompeii where we will visit the ruins of this famous city completely destroyed by the Vesuvio eruption in 79 B.C. Continue to the Amalfi coast and panoramic visit of the two cities (Amalfi and Positano) from the panoramic road. Lunch on your own on the road. Back to Naples. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Naples/Capri/Rome
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to Naples’ port to embark on the ferry which will bring us to the beautiful Capri. The island has been the residence of many Roman Emperors and it surprises all the travellers thanks to the landscapes as well as grottos and Faraglioni. Lunch by your own. Back by Jetfoil to Naples and continue by bus to Rome. End of the tour in a specific point of Rome. The tour ends at this point and clients will need to have a transfer to the hotel or to the airport (not included in our tour’s rate).
Note: Tour itinerary may be changed or inverted for technical reasons without notice. Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina re-opens in March 2011, in case it does not, Villa Romana del Casale will be substituted with visit of Caltagirone. |
