This 103 hectare organic farm is situated between the northern area of Salento and the Metaponto plains. This ´Masseria´ or farmhouse was originally an ancient feudal construction with watch tower, its location being considered of great strategic importance for its unhampered view over the surrounding countryside. Because of its position, therefore, and the fertility of the land, the estate always belonged to important families, such as the Doria family in the 16th century, the Spanish Marquis Alcanices and Grandi from the 17th century to the end of the 18th century when the property was donated to S.M. Maria Cristina of Austria, the last feudal owner up to 1924. Part of the property has now been converted to guest accommodation and, after careful restoration, now contains 9 beautifully furnished apartments. House Api and House Angelino are 500 mt and 900 mt far from the Masseria. The swimming pool is especially beautiful (8 x 16 m. - open May/Sep.) along with the dining rooms with their original 19th century floors, and the large common room with brick arches, an ideal setting for business meetings.
